APPROACH

We begin each project by thinking about how someone would want to feel in a space, letting the way it looks grow from there. We’re interested in rooms that develop with time and feel grounding to the people who live in them—shaped by their lives as much as by the character of the architecture itself.

Before moving into a senior role at Studio Shamshiri, our principal, Kelsey, studied weaving at RISD’s MFA Textiles program and spent ten years in the New York art world, working as an editor, in sculpture production, and at galleries including Gagosian. That history continues to inform our work, particularly in our attention to material, craft, and things made by hand. Our process involves a close study before we begin of what a space can be made of: where materials and objects come from, how they feel and age, and what it will be like to live with them. Natural fibers and low-toxicity finishes are important to us, as are materials that become better with use.

Alongside our interiors practice, we run a design showroom in Echo Park with our friends Luke Foss and DUSK, and in 2025 established Collective, a nonprofit connecting wildfire survivors with members of the design community.
